Archaeological Notes
A sheepfold and enclosure (612 and 613) centred on NH 173 489 and situated at the foot of the Allt na Criche on its W bank.
The sheepfold (Nosas Site Survey No 612) is marked on the 1st edition OS map at NH 17280 48921.
It is sub rectangular and measures some 21m x 16m within a natural hollow between a steep slope and the Allt na Criche. The stone walls are substantial but now largely tumbled.
A rectangular stone built enclosure (Nosas Site Survey No 613)is located on the W side of the burn at NH 17376 48841, aligned N-S and measures approximately 33m x 17m. The walls are largely tumbled and spread but the E wall and the scarped N wall still stand to 0.5m height.
