Archaeology Notes

NT27SW 152.07 23680 73235

This early 19th century boundary stone is situated at the SE corner of the grounds of the former Donaldson's Hospital, about 1m from the modern pavement on the N side of West Coates, where it has been incorporated into a later stone wall. Round-headed in profile, the sandstone marker measures 0.36m in breadth by 0.5m in height. On the date of visit the marker, which stands behind a police box, was partly obscured by a pile of rubbish, but the incised letters 'D H' were visible on its E face.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 11 February 2010.
