Activities

Field Visit (28 July 2010)

This is a cast-iron, fluted, decommissioned, late Victorian water stand-pump with domed top, acorn finial, and lion spout. Possibly by Glenfield and Kennedy of Kilmarnock, it is in good condition with surviving bucket stand. It shows signs of upgrade of water delivery from ?hand-pump arm via lion's mouth to tap delivery, presumably in the 20th century. Similar to statutory listed example in Fordyce (NJ56SE 51).

Visited by from RCAHMS (MMD/IA), 28 July 2010.
