Only the foundations of Newton castle remain. It was destroyed by the Earl of Argyll in 1641.

G Cumming 1843.

Vestiges of Newton Castle exist.

NSA 1845.

No remains of Newton Castle exist, but about a year ago a portion of the wall, c. 5' thick, was standing in the old farmhouse.

Name Book 1862.
