Standing Building Recording (May 2010)
NT 276 743 A Level 2–3 building survey was carried out in May 2010 on a derelict Methodist church prior to its
demolition. The church was constructed shortly before 1904 and was last used for worship in 2004. Occupying an L-shaped plan, the church had a rectangular congregation area lit by Palladian-style windows. A hall adjoined the congregational area. The building was mainly timber-framed resting on brick foundations. The interior walls were clad with timber panelling to dado height with painted plaster above. The roof was of through-purlin construction with painted sarking boards and exposed timber rafters. The apex of the roof was boxed in and pierced with ventilation holes. The exterior of the church had harled walls. The roof was tiled and had a squat central louvered spire.
