Loss (13 November 1878)
(Classified as sloop: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 13 November 1878). Three Brothers: [this vessel was] wrecked [stranded] on the seaward [East] side of the old South breakwater, [at] Aberdeen [harbour].
Registration: Lossiemouth.
(Location of loss cited as N57 8.60 W2 3.00).
I G Whittaker 1998.
Named Location (Nlo) (17 August 2011)
NLO: Aberdeen [name: NJ 95 05].
Not to be confused with NJ90NE 8345.
Note (17 August 2011)
(Location entered as NJ c. 9638 0577 [N57 8.57 W2 3.69]). The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The vessel apparently stranded on the seaward (East) side of the Old (or Inner) South Breakwater (NJ90NE 7.04), which extends from NJ 9637 0572 to NJ 9637 0581.
The remains of the vessel were presumably removed without delay from this constrained location.
Aberdeen Harbour (NJ90NE 7.00) is centred at NJ 95 05. The present entrance may be considered to lie at NJ c. 963 060, but this location reflects development towards the East through the construction of successive piers and breakwaters.
