Evidence Of Loss (3 November 1928)
(No classification or cargo specified: date cited as 3 November 1928). Unknown: wreckage at Aberdeen Bar.
(Location of loss cited as N57 8.50 W2 4.00).
I G Whittaker 1998.
Named Location (Nlo) (18 August 2011)
NLO: Aberdeen [name: NJ 95 05]
Aberdeen Bay [name centred NJ 956 075]
The Bar [name centred NJ 9657 0606].
Note (18 August 2011)
(Location cited as NJ c. 96 06 [N57 9 W2 4]). The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary.
The current edition of the OS (GIS) MasterMap notes The Bar around NJ 965 060, between the North Pier (NJ90NE 7.02) and the South Breakwater (NJ90NE 7.05) at the entrance to Aberdeen Harbour (NJ90NE 7.00).
Aberdeen Harbour (NJ90NE 7.00) is centred at NJ 95 05. The present entrance may be considered to lie at NJ c. 963 060, but this location reflects development towards the East through the construction of successive piers and breakwaters.
The wreckage was presumably floating, and may represent the loss of a vessel which foundered offshore, possibly beyond Scottish waters.
The date cited by Whittaker is evidently that of the reported sighting of wreckage.
