(NO 4070 3075) Supposed Site of (NAT) St Roque's Chapel (NR)

OS 1:500 plan, Dundee, Forfarshire, (1871)

The Chapel of St Roque or Roche stood outside the Town Wall on the east, by the side of the Wallace Burn. The Chapel and burial ground were on the east side of the burn, under a steep acclivity, close to the present St Roque's Lane. The last priest of St Roque's was presented to the chapel when it was probably lying in ruins, in 1557-8.

A Maxwell 1891.

Modern works now occupy the supposed site of this chapel.

Visited by OS (J L D) 17 April 1958.
