Forfar's East Port was probably located at the junction of East High Street and North Street.

NO 461 507 In February 1995 the Trust undertook an assessment, prior to development, of the site on the SE corner of the East High Street/South Street junction. The site was considered to be significant due to its location at the East Port, on the town's main thoroughfare, adjacent to the historic core of the burgh.

Five trial trenches were machine excavated, hand cleaned, recorded and backfilled. The excavations revealed that the site had been previously levelled and that the only archaeological remains related to 19th and 20th century occupation.
