(NS 3379 2197) Meal Market (NR) (Site of)

OS 25" map (1961)

Pagan and Paterson state that the Meal Market was built in 1586, replaced in 1662, and removed in 1843; it existed before this, though perhaps not as a building. In the 19th century it was a huge, strong, square building, open on Tuesdays and Fridays for the sale of cereal produce. Its site is now occupied by Winton Buildings.

Modern buildings occupy the site of the Meal Market.
