OS 25" map (1961)

The Sea Port or Boat Vennel Port, which controlled the lane from the sea into the burgh of Ayr, stood at the W end of Boat Vennal (A I Dunlop 1953). It was in existence at least by 1547, in need of repairs by 1601 and taken down (perhaps not finally - in 1610.
