A bronze coin of Constantine I (c.536), probably minted at Rome, was found about 1930 by Mr Walker on the sandhills at Irvine.
A S Robertson 1952
This coin, still in Mr Walker's possession, was picked up on the foreshore about 20 yards southeast of the Lifeboat Station (sited from this information to NS 3037 3783).
