NS39SE 12 385 908.

A 'sunken cairn' or artificial island is situated in Loch Lomond, south of Inshcruin.

NS 385 908. The structure south of Inchcruin (referred to above) may be a crannog.

The waters round the island of Inchcruin were examined as features have been recorded there in the past. In and near the channel between the island an Inchmoan to the W of it (NS 384 910) the water is very shallow with deposited silt or sand and no artificial structures were noterd. Aerial photography would be useful in this area as it is too large to adequately cover with the hydrograph. The owner of the island reported seeing features breaking the surface in the small bay at the SE end of the island. In this area there are large hazards of outcropping bedrock, particularly to the S of the small peninsula which projects to the NS (NS 389 911). To the N of this feature the water is an even depth of 4m to 5m with a sandy bottom over a large area and, although it was cursorily examined using the hydrograph, would be better covered with aerial photography. The Islay Archaeological Survey Group recorded only moraines in this area.
