Summary Record

The bridge was recorded as part of the Threatened Builsdings Survey of Dumfries House in 2010. It was designed by John Adam in 1760 as part of the main approach to Dumfries House from the north. (NS 53796 20646) Avenue Bridge, over the Lugar Water: Three arches with approach ramps. A impressive design contemporary with Dumfries House (NS52SW 12, built 1754-9).
