A stone forming the lintel over a disused doorway at the rear of 127 Candleriggs, is dated 1597 and inscribed "Blissit be ye Lord our God for al his giftis".

J Cowan 1951.

This stone was mounted within the Commercial Bank of Scotland in 1938 when the building was being reconstructed and is in an excellent state of preservation, the above inscription being clearly visible.
