Possibly on map sheet NS56NW.

Nothing now remains of Cardonald Castle. (Cardonald: NS 53 64) Writing at the end of last century, MacDonald said that it had by then been replaced by a farm, although part of the gardens including the orchard remained. In front of the farmhouse was a stone on which was carved a helmet with the motto 'Toujours avant' and the initials JS, dated 1565; this had come from the old castle.

P McDonald 1979; H MacDonald 1854.
