(NS 9778 3075) Air photography by the RCAHMS has revealed a Roman fortlet on the NW side of the modern road from Coulter the Wandel, 170m S of Lamington church.

Only the NW half is visible, but it appears to have measured about 18m within double ditches from NE to SW by at least 15m transversely. The position of the entrance is not apparent.

RCAHMS 1978.

There is no trace of this fortlet on slightly undulating arable ground which lies at 210m OD. RAF air photographs (106G Scot/UK 87:4090-1) show nothing significant.

Visited by OS(JRL) 8 February 1979.
