(NS 9909 7270) Boundary Stone (NR)
OS 6" map (1968)

This slab measures 2 3/4' x 2' x 13", and is sculptured with a patriarchal cross on both sides, shown in high relief on the W side, and deeply incised on the E. It marks the boundary of Torphichen (which was held by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem).
(Prof Duns shows the stone at ground level while the RCAHMS depict it built into the wall, at a higher level).
Prof Duns 1878; RCAHMS 1929, visited 1926.

This stone is as described above. As it is incorporated in a wall, which would probably be relatively modern, this stone would not be quite in situ, but it is possible that it stood in the ground at this spot prior to the building of the dyke.
Visited by OS (JLD), 4 December 1952.

NS 9909 7270. This stone is as described. It has now been re-erected in the adjoining field.
Surveyed at 1:2500
Visited by OS (JP), 9 August 1974.
