(NT 0895 8745) The Tolbooth Port, which was situated at the foot of Bruce Street, was one of the six ports of the town of Dunfermline. These were probably built immediately after the burgh received its charter from the abbot in 1395.
This port appears to have consisted of an archway under a large stone stair, which gave access to the middle floor of the tolbooth (NT08NE 12) and was removed in 1769.
