The remains of Cramalt Tower stand beside the sheep-folds of Cramalt farm. It is oblong on plan, measuring 17'6" NNW-SSE by 26'10" transversely, within walls about 4' thick. Originally built of boulder rubble in lime mortar, the walls have been extensively repaired with drystone masonry. Both gables are breached and the side walls are no more than 15' and 13' respectively in maximum height. The basement floor has been vaulted. It is mentioned in 1530 and 1555.
