The chapel of St Michael in the burgh of Queensferry was erected into the parish church by a charter of 1635, ratified in 1641. (Prior to that, it fell in Dalmeny parish).

H Scott 1950

This church is a plain, oblong, single-chambered structure, rubble-built and dating from 1633. It was renovated in 1821 and 1898. A bell dated 1635 hangs in the belfry on the W gable. The RCAHMS, presumably following the OS, state that it occupies the site of an old chapel of St Nicholas.

RCAHMS 1929, visited 1927; G Hay 1957; Name Book 1856

The church is no longer in use as such, and now serves as a church hall.

Visited by OS Reviser (HC) 23 February 1967

Chapel of St Michael was built 1633 and became the parish church in 1635. The church is situated behind the south side of the High Street. The building is now used as a YMCA day centre and appears in good condition.

Site recorded by GUARD during the Coastal Assessment Survey for Historic Scotland, 'The Firth of Forth from Dunbar to the Coast of Fife' 10th March 1996.
