Archaeology Notes

NT18SW 36 12 80.

Contemporary accounts refer to a Royalist fort at North Queensferry (NT 1280), which seems to have been flanked by batteries on the Ferry Hills. It was captured by a Cromwellian force of about 1600 men in 1651 prior to the Battle of Inverkeithing (NT18SW 10). Its site is now occupied by the Forth Bridge, its approaches, and a golf course.
