Archaeology Notes

NT23SW 34 2180 3241.

'On the south side of Glenrath Hope, at the base of Earn Cleugh, a substantially built sub-rectangular structure measuring 6.20m by 4m, with walls 1m wide. The structure has no visible doorway at ground level, though foundations on the north side may have carried steps to one placed at first floor level. An ancillary building 3m by 2.5m adjoins the W wall of the main structure. Documentary research suggests that these are the foundations of the Horse Hope tower.'
