69. Carved Stone, Lady Yester's Church, Infirmary Street.

The upper part of a mural monument has been inserted about half-way up the outer side of the E. wall of Lady Yester's Church. It has fluted pilasters and a broken pediment containing a cherub's head in the centre as a finial. The panel between the pilasters displays in relief a crown, from which swags of drapery are suspended on either side of a lozenge-shaped facet in high relief.

RCAHMS 1951

Publication Account (1981)

Lady Yester’s Church owes its origin to the generosity of Lady Vester who gave the sum of 10,000 merks to build a church and another sum to support a minister. In 1655, the church, situated on the. west side of High School Wynd, was made one of the town's parishes (Kincaid, 1787, 206).
