OS 6" map (1932)

This tree said to be the largest beech in Scotland measured, in 1794, at a yard above the ground, 19' in circumference. Its trunk was 22' high before it spread; the distance between the tips of its extreme branches was 108', and it contained 710 cu ft of wood including its principal limbs.
