(NT 4519 8019) Two Short Cists found AD 1929 (NAT)

OS 6" map (1968)

A short cist, without a cover stone, containing an unusual food vessel, was found at a depth of 11' on Kilspindie Golf Course in December 1929. Ten feet to the S was a second cist containing a crouched inhumation. The bunker where they were found was pointed out by Mr Dickson, who was present at the discovery (J G Callander 1930).

The food vessel is now in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland [NMAS] (Accession no: EE 137).

Visited by OS (WDJ) 19 November 1962 and (JP) 13 August 1975.

Two short cists were found on the golf course in 1925. There is no sign of the cists now on the golf course.

Site recorded by GUARD during the Coastal Assessment Survey for Historic Scotland, 'The Firth of Forth from Dunbar to the Coast of Fife' 20th February 1996.
