Archaeology Notes

NT57NW 61 510 794.

(NT 510 794) The village of Drem occupies the site of a considerable establishment which formerly belonged to the Knights Templars. A small portion of the chapel (NT57NW 3) and a piece of the hedge which enclosed the priest's garden (NT57NW 4) are the only parts which still remain.

Name Book 1853

There are numerous references to alleged houses of Templars in Scotland. These are exaggerated accounts of what were merely Temple lands or, in some cases, of appropriated churches.

I B Cowan and D E Easson 1976
