Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Leitholm Bridge was built in the late eighteenth century and is still used as one of the main routes into Leitholm village.

Built of sandstone masonry, the humped bridge crosses Lambden Burn in a single segmental-arched span with a dressed stone arch ring and rubble spandrels and wing walls. Above the arch, there is a dentil course beneath the parapets, and a large stone buttress helps to support the north-eastern face of the bridge.
