NX97NE 45 c. 97 76.

A mass of silver coins and or ornaments, a small cross and brooches rusted together, was found in taking down an old house in Dumfries in 1878. Donated to the Museum of the Society in 1882, Edinburgh.

There were 213 silver sterlings in all, Alexander III, seven; John Balliol, one; Edward I and II two hundred and three; foreign sterlings, two. In addition there was a small cross fragments of a chain, complete brooch, portions of other three and a small bow handle all of silver.
