Note (1981)

Kirkstile NY c. 368 907 NY39SE 16

There are no visible remains of the tower of 'Eckigingles', recorded on a map of 1590. The tower is probably that depicted on the S side of the Kirkton Burn as 'Kirktoun' in Blaeu's Atlas of 1654.
