This township is recorded as 'Dail' and depicted as roofless and in ruins on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire sheet xcvii, pub. 1869). An old limekiln is also shown.

Nine unroofed buildings, one enclosure, an unroofed circular structure annotated as Old Limekiln and a head-dyke are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet xcvii). Twelve unroofed buildings, two enclosures and the head-dyke are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972).
