NS72NW 11.02 centred 6960 2641

Site falls on map sheet NS62NE

Little now survives of the rows that were built to the W of the Linky Burn to house the majority of the miners and furnace workers on the S side of the River Ayr (centred NS 6960 2641); the last surviving terraces were demolished in the late 1960's. Elsewhere in the area, the stone footings of a double row of cottages survive on the W bank of the Catchy Burn (NS 7028 2644), while immediately to the S of the railway, opposite the site of the Ironworks (NS62NE 17), the footings of a row of six cottages can still be seen.

Visited by RCAHMS (ARW, SPH), February-November 1991.

NMRS MS 731/6.
