Desk Based Assessment (3 August 2021)

Nothing is now visible of the fishing lodge that is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 25-inch map (Perthshire 1873, Sheet XCVIII.10) standing about 22m W of the building that superseded it in the 20th century and which is now a café. The 1st edition maps shows only a small building (Limeyhaugh) which the contemporary OS Name Book (Perthshire Vol.41, p.23) describes as ‘A fishing lodge on the River Tay the property of Lord Gray of Kinfauns Castle and occupied by Powrie Pitkeathly and Co’. The second edition of the map shows that by the end of the 19th century the building had either been enlarged (doubled in length) or rebuilt (1901, Sheet XCVIII.10).
