This monument was erected (by his wife) to John Irvine Boswell of Balmuto and Kincausie, who was born 28 December 1785, served with the Coldstream Guards at the Battle of Talavera, and died 23 December 1860. The base of the monument is crumbling and the crown is gradually collapsing inwards.

NMRS, MS/712/10.
