There are seven subrectangular shieling-huts (MAR93 197-201, 478) disposed across a heather-covered terrace to the N of the Quoich Water and to the E of the Alltan na Beinne. They measure up to 7.2m by 1.9m internally within stone-and-turf walls, each with an entrance in the side. To the N of the group of huts is what may be a later shepherd's bothy (MAR93 202), which overlies a hut and is of faced-rubble construction. It is also larger than the huts, measuring 7.7m by 2.2m internally. The 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet xcvii) depicts two unroofed structures at this location, one of which is probably at NO 0869 9538 (MAR93 202). Farquharson's map (1703, National Library of Scotland) shows one open circle at this location.

Note (16 November 2000)
After further examination of the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet lxxxvii), the two unroofed structures lie approximately 80m to the SW of the NGR noted above. They are not shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971), but one unroofed building lies to the NE.
