Activities

Field Visit (13 August 1992)

NS87SW 28 8094 7027

Situated at the end of the track to Greendikeside, this coal mine comprises a pit, lying to the S of the track, and two crow's foot bings, one on either side of the track. The two bings possibly represent separate phases of exploitation, which may be reflected in the depiction of a disused bing on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire 1899, sheet iii) and a 'Shaft (dis)' on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1990).
