The farmstead of Auchelie which is situated at the S end of the township of Ruighnanseileach (NO08NE 6) is depicted as roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1869, sheet xcvii). It is shown as roofless on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1972).

Further examination of the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire 1869, sheet xcvii) identifed one unroofed building, four roofed buildings and three enclosures in the farmstead of Auchelie. In addition, what may be a township lies approximately 180m to the S and comprises four unroofed buildings.

On the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1972), the farmstead comprises six unroofed buildings and one enclosure, and the possible township comprises one unroofed building.
