Archaeology Notes

NR65SE 48 6572 5270

This field bank composed of earth and stone runs from a point close to the SE end of one of the many E-W drystone dykes on the Tarbert isthmus up to the cliff edge and is about 80m in length. The bank has been built down a rock scarp near its E end and here the stones have used the outcrop wherever possible. This bank which runs to a maximum height of 1.5m and spread of 2m runs roughly parallel to bank NR65SE 51 , and at a distance of 350m it seems to be an extension of the forerunner of the drystone dyke mentioned above.

F Hood [et al.] 1993, visited April 1993.

NMRS, MS/805/1.
