Built in 1801, this Church of Scotland manse sits within its own grounds, with views of the River Tweed to the south and the abbey ruins to the north-west. The manse is a large two-storeyed building with an attic and a basement, over which a flight of railed steps leads to the front door. It has a piended roof and the whole building is harled, with ashlar dressings (window surrounds and quoins). Records show that in 1832 the new minister, J M McCulloch, had considerable repairs made to the manse, though it not known what these were.
